Artist Statement: Polymorphosis describes the existence of several species within a single environment.  Biologically it is the ability of a creature to exist in several shapes, colors, and patterns.  It can be interpreted as the butterfly within its previous form: innate butterfly within the caterpillar.  In this specific, case the organic form morphs to the inorganic.  Butterflies are appreciated for their beauty, gracefulness, and fragile elegance.  They are a powerful symbol of regeneration, of new hope, and the way in which life can undergo incredible changes to produce a new and inspiring form.  As a symbol of urban renewal, they speak of transformation and rebirth.  The benevolent nature of this creature reflects a standard for a way in which harmony can exist where it can be found.  It is my hope that this sculpture can reside where it will enhance its environment and bring a sense of peace to those who view it.

Polymorphosis is made with 3/8” steel.  My design was fabricated.  It was plasma cut from my JPEG with assistance from a CAD program.  I then had it powder coated to give it protection from the elements.
